[ficlet] Merging (PG)
Title: Merging
Author: tiptoe39
Rating: PG
Summary: Written for the timestamp meme: set the morning after Kiss #25, "fence." Thanks to boudecia7 for the prompt.

Mohinder awoke to a buzzsaw.

No, perhaps it wasn't a buzzsaw. Perhaps it was a bulldozer. Or a full construction crew. Small men with hard hats and box lunches and pot bellies, sweating it out under the hot sun right next to his ear. Miniature jackhammers and riveters plugging away.

It all seemed a more likely scenario than the alternative.

He peeked at the source of the noise. No men in hard hats. Just a slack mouth and the worst noise imaginable.

Oh, no. Oh, no.

And oh, yes.

Simultaneously disgusted and fascinated, he watched the man beside him snore away. Chest rising and falling, face devoid of any expression, arms tucked under the bulk of his shoulders and chest and meeting beneath his chin with a corner of blanket crunched between them. He looked like a child clutching a stuffed animal.

Mohinder stared. What else could he do? This man was absolutely beyond his comprehension. There was no reason he should be anything but irritated with him. No reason that last night's torrent of kisses and caresses should have been so satisfying, no reason that their tumble into bed should have been so urgent and frantic. Now, in the warm light of morning, Mohinder couldn't wrap his brain around the concept of his affection for Matt.

Yet there it was, and it was overwhelming.

Leaning forward, Mohinder dotted a kiss on the corner of his cheek. Matt stirred but did not wake up.

Another kiss, close to the nose, feeling the warmth of Matt's skin under his lips. His breath, a little sour but warm, puffed out and up into Mohinder's nostrils.

Mohinder pressed closer to him. His body was so large, so warm, radiating heat, and getting near it was like slipping into a bath. It made his own skin flush, and Mohinder wanted to feel more of him. He wriggled as close as he could get and ran a tentative hand across Matt's bicep. Such muscles he had. Such raw power.

He tangled his hand with Matt's. The fingerpads were sticky from prying up all that tape. Had they really gone for that old ploy? As though something as simple as a fence could have kept them from irritating each other. As though it could have quelled the powerful merging of their lives, like twin waves pounding against each other. Mingling like their fingers were now, creating a new shape and a new paradigm. Sometimes confusing, sometimes uncomfortable, but undeniably right.

Mohinder leaned in one more time, capturing Matt's slack lips in his. Oh, God, he wasn't even being kissed back and he was overwhelmed already. The magnetic force of this man was impossible to escape. It had flipped Mohinder inside out and upside down. Like his favorite toys as a child, those endlessly fascinating disc magnets, Mohinder was hopelessly stuck. He couldn't get away if he tried.

He let his lips slide down to the corner of Matt's mouth, flickering his tongue out to graze against the slowly growing stubble there.

But the surface wasn't scratchy.

It was wet.

Oh, God. Matt was drooling.

There was a wet patch on Matt's pillow. A little had even gotten on Mohinder's. He rolled away with a groan.

This was going to take some getting used to.

Oh that's fantastic. A lovely mixture of the romantic and the um practicalities. And the image of Matt clutching the blanket was just too sweet :)

j/k! This was so sweet & waffy. And I loved all the imagery with the snoring. Poor Mo, he's had a lot of getting used to to get used to in all the fic I've read today. Domesticity does not come easily to him it seems. :)

This was great! I loved how it wasn't totally 'happy ever after' - I like how Matt's character comes through even though he's asleep, and I love the fact that Mohinder is just so inexplicably drawn to him, and completely overwhelmed by him.

Really sweet!

BWAH. Hilarious. And... also completely familiar. I think everyone has had a relationship like this.

Eeeee! I love it!...not least of all for touching on my deep abiding love for Mo watching Matt sleep. :)

So sweet and perfect--and the drool at the end should be disgusting, but it was adorable just the same. Awesome!

Will Matt snoring, resemble a bulldozer?.
Watch that it is an exaggeration Mohinder!.

Mohinder can only do two things: sleep in separate rooms, or that Mohinder is purchased earplugs.

I am happily married to a bulldozer. I wear earplugs every night. There are worse things to do.
